Scott Douglas is a new, up and coming Canadian contemporary artist working in Vancouver, BC. Using photography as his medium of choice, he deals with haunting, eerie imagery.
He brings a lingering dim light to human-less structures; the empty, functional, mechanical, sometimes rotting world that was not meant for our eyes. In these areas, uncanny figures stand to confront or observe the viewer that has entered the space that is as empty as the figures themselves are.
Avoiding the easy temptation to fix a shot with photoshop, he believes that skill of artistic photographic creation can be best shown through an unaltered image.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of the Fraser Valley. Even before getting the degree, he was picked up by the Buschlen Mowatt Gallery and is currently represented there.
